Sheraton Lisle Wedding | Nirali & Hitesh

Ceremony & Reception: Sheraton, Lisle IL See Full Gallery

We got to see familiar faces again, documenting our 2nd wedding with this wonderful family. All the festivities conveniently took place at Sheraton in Lisle starting with the Sangeet Friday evening and the Baraat early Saturday morning. With such a compact timeline, we only had a few moments to step outside for photos and took advantage of a nice natural area not too far away (a great find while scouting). But most of the photos took place inside the Sheraton which was artfully decorated and made for some good indoor backgrounds. While the entire weekend was full of thunderstorms, it magically stopped for just enough time to have an outdoor Baraat.

Some fun details… Niraly & Hitesh did a fantastic job with their decor, showing vibrant purple theme throughout the ballroom. They had a B&W photo escort card that turned into color as each guest took their card. They had a giant snow globe with bobble head type figures of themselves in it along with Chicago theme locations. Every guest table had selfie sticks, such a great idea and allows for fun photos to share with the bride & groom. They treated their guests not only to an abundance of desert options, but they also had cook-to-order funnel cakes! Lots more to see so just go check out their gallery on our Facebook Page.

Congratulations Nirali & Hitesh! We are very grateful that you brought us back to your warm families and friends for another wedding. Thank you and we hope to see you again soon!

Belvedere Banquets Wedding | Laura & Tay

Ceremony: Westin, Itasca IL Reception: Belvedere Events & Banquets, Elk Grove Village IL See Full Gallery

This was certainly a day filled with emotion as you can see with all the photo highlights. While Laura prepped for the day at her sister’s house, Tay and his groomsmen got ready at the Westin Itasca where the ceremony also took place. Tears of joy were surrounded the room during the ceremony, mostly from the groom himself. Some helpful kids and the MOG helped to get Tay through the emotional ceremony. The Westin Itasca provided for some wonderful photo backdrops. We also made a stop in the Rosemont area for more photos. The reception was held at the Belvedere Events & Banquets in Elk Grove Village.

Some fun details… Laura & Tay “Jumped the Broom”, an African American wedding tradition symbolizing sweeping away the old and welcoming the new, a symbol of new beginnings. The first half of the ceremony got so emotional that they forgot to do the “Blending of The Sands” which they made up for afterwards. Each guest was greeted with Hershey kisses as wedding favors.

Congratulations Laura & Tay! We are yet again blessed to be doing a repeat family wedding, getting to see familiar faces, so thank you for having us back!

Chicago Botanic Garden Marriage Proposal | Ashley & Jimmy

Photo gallery

One of the most satisfying thing about being a photographer is capturing real unscripted moments and preserving them for people to enjoy and cherish life memories. Jimmy’s proposal is a perfect example and it was executed to perfection!

We had the heads up from Jimmy months before hand and talked in careful detail about his proposal. The challenge was (1) it was a surprise and (2) Ashley is not to notice that they are being photographed. This is usually a 50/50 outcome but the groom placed his soon to be bride in the perfect position to accomplish both a surprise proposal and great angles for unnoticed shots. Jimmy earned extra bonus points by surprising Ashley with large prints of the proposal mounted on their living room wall weeks later as she came home from a business trip.

Congrats to Ashley & Jimmy! Thanks for letting us be your ninja photographer!

Medinah Country Club Wedding | Lauren & Michael

Ceremony: St. Isidore, Bloomingdale IL Reception: Medinah Country Club, Medinah IL

Photo gallery

Both Lauren and Michael prepared for their big day at nearby Eaglewood Resort in Itasca. The ceremony was also a short drive away at St. Isidore in Bloomingdale. While it’s tradition to have a long limo-bus ride to the reception (for a per-party sort of speak), the bride & groom couldn’t wait to get to their reception venue. And who can blame them! The Medinah Country Club is magnificent in every way, inside and out. Both sides of the family came in big numbers which made for a memorable and fun evening.

Some fun details…Lauren and her bridesmaids had personalized Starbucks cups to start the day. Lauren & Michael spared no expense treating their guests to a huge desert spread. Lauren surprised Michael with a Northwestern University groom’s cake.

Congratulations to Lauren & Michael! Hope to see everyone again in the near future!

Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool Engagement Photos | Shauna & Anthony

Shauna & Anthony chose a great spot for their engagement photos, Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool (aka Lily Pond). This is a hidden gem just inside Lincoln Park north of the zoo. It’s a great nature get-away from the busy city streets. It also made for excellent backdrops for their engagement guestbook.

Congratulations Shauna & Anthony! Can’t wait to show off your engagement photos on your big day!

You can dress up a wedding as much as you want but at the end of it all, the only thing that really matters is that you’re surrounded by people that you love and genuinely love you back. This creates an entire day full of authentic moments that you’ll remember for life. (And of course you need an awesome photographer to document these moments =) April & Dylan’s wedding was exactly that. It reminded us of why we love what we do.

Their entire day took place at our most favorite venue, the Armour House in Lake Forest. While we try to convince most couples to do a “first look” to take advantage of more photo time, April & Dylan decided they wanted their first look to be in tact for the isle. We did sacrifice more wedding party photos but got some very emotional ceremony photos in return. We did make sure to have enough bride & groom photo time as well.

Some fun details…April & Dylan displayed old wedding photos of their parents and even took photos with them, one of our favorite details, we love seeing old wedding photos. One of their close friends sang their first dance song which just melted everyone’s hearts, not a dry eye on the dance floor. April changed to an amazing red dress to finish off the celebration. They had a perfect sparkler send off, with the entire wedding participating and timed perfectly at dusk with the dark blue skies. Lots more to see so just go check out their gallery on our Facebook Page.

Congrats Sarah & Anthony! Thank you for having us around your adventure of a day!

Northerly Island Wedding | Sarah & Anthony

Sarah & Anthony certainly had a huge day with lots of big plans throughout!

Preparations began at Hilton Chicago with a spectacular view of the lakefront and Grant Park. The first look took place on Hilton’s rooftop pool deck to start the day. Running late is not unusual as you know with weddings so we had to cut some photo stops but we still made the top locations on their list. First stop was a short walk to Grant Park for some natural backgrounds. Anthony is a huge Chicago Bears fan so they found a unique wedding photo spot at the Winter Garden next to Soldier Field, very fitting for Anthony but was certainly painful for Greenbay Packer fans in the family. We then hopped back on the trolley for Adler Planetarium for the signature Chicago skyline photo.

The ceremony and reception took place at Northerly Island, a very special place to Sarah & Anthony where they spend most of their free time. We also took some amazing engagement photos at their ceremony spot which you can see here.

Some fun details…Absolutely nothing was spared for Sarah & Anthony’s arrival. The entire wedding party went beyond the traditional trolley and hopped on a yacht from Burnham Harbor to Notherly Island. Sarah was then taken on a horse carriage from Northerly Island’s dock to their ceremony spot overlooking the Chicago skyline with such a unique vantage point. In another unique fashion, Sarah & Anthony chose to have ring tattoos, doing a fist bump in place of a ring exchange. Snoopy, a big part of Sarah & Anthony’s family took part in the ceremony. Perhaps one of the most unforgettable part of the ceremony would be Steely Dan‘s timing on their sound check which took place just yards away. While their sound check was overpowering at times, their song selections during sound check certainly timed well within the ceremony timeline. Fun & unforgettable! Their cake was a Stanley Cup replica laced with important names and meaningful words. There’s just too much to write about so just go check out their gallery on our Facebook Page.

Congrats Sarah & Anthony! Thank you for having us around your adventure of a day!

South Branch Chicago River Wedding | Jennifer & Robert

You see that old bench? That’s no ordinary bench. That’s the bench Jennifer & Robert first laid eyes on each other many years ago back when she was a freshman and he was a senior at Lane Tech High School. And on the morning of their wedding day, they decided to meet at the exact spot where it all began. And we can’t really write anything further to top that!

After a few photos around Lane Tech campus, which is very photogenic by the way, we headed out to Nicholas J. Melas Centennial Fountain in downtown Chicago’s Riverwalk where Robert proposed to Jennifer. Not only are their photo location choices unique, but they truly have meaning behind their story. The ceremony and reception took place at South Branch which flanks the Chicago River in the loop area and set the stage for spectacular skyline views both during the outdoor ceremony and reception.

Some fun details…Jennifer & Robert displayed their prom photo next to a current photo, so much fun for the guests to see. They also included other prom accessories with the display. This was important as Robert recreated prom night for Jennifer. While we took photos on Monroe bridge, Jennifer unexpectedly threw her bouquet over the river to boaters cheering them on. Thankfully, we got a shot as she threw. The sad news is no one caught it. Still, great unscripted memories to look back to. You can see more of their highlights & details on our Facebook Page.

Congratulations Jennifer & Robert! We’re thankful you chose us to document such a special day and witnessing your wonderful story. Thank you for having LOP!

Ravenswood Event Center Wedding | Susan & Peter

Where do we even start with this wedding?! Maybe we should just sum it up in one word: Celebration! There’s just pure joy in every photo we took!

Peter began his day in Chicago spending time with his closest friends playing a bunch of kid games and some bags. Susan started her day at her childhood home with her bridesmaids and close family. The celebration began early with Khigga, a style of Assyrian folk dance in which multiple dancers hold each other’s hands and form a circle. This was followed by a traditional M’Pulata d’Chalo. This is where the groom’s family visits to take her out of the home and to the church. While in the house, the women sing tradition lilyaneh and dola and zurna is played as they dance. Before the bride leaves the house, a member of the bride’s family stands at the door and receives an amount of money from a member of the groom’s family and once an agreement is reached, the bride heads to church.

Before the ceremony, Susan and Peter decided on a first look at a special location, Montrose Beach Bird Sanctuary in Chicago’s north side. We had a bit of a challenge, as all entrances to the lake front were closed off by police maybe due to summer over-crowding. The guys took to walking the rest of the way but luckily, the girls had a pregnant bridesmaid, whom we used as a ticket to pass the police road blocks. After taking a few wedding party photos, we headed to St. Sargis Parish for an emotional and laughter filled ceremony. The rest of the celebration was just blocks away at Ravenswood Event Center in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, a truly unique and phenomenal venue.

Some fun details…Peter and his groomsmen wore wooden bow ties from Two Guys Bow Ties. Susan & Peter love to travel so it was fitting to have a vintage luggage for a card box. Guests were treated to Assyrian pastries at church as well as the reception. There’s so much more to write about but let’s just mention the biggest detail highlight which is their venue choice. The ambiance of this event space was perfect for Susan & Peter’s vision and huge celebration. You can see more of their highlights & details on our Facebook Page.

Congratulations Susan & Peter! It’s a true privilege to be able to take photos of a wedding where genuine fun memories are most important than anything else. So, thank you for having us!

Waterfall Glen Engagement Photos | Liz & Mark

Photo gallery

Super excited to share some of Liz & Mark’s magical engagement photos! Mainly because she’s going to be our 5th bride from this wonderful family circle and we get to see all of them again! Thank you for having us back!

Liz & Mark chose a location that’s quickly moving into a favorite location list. We love getting out of the city once in a while and this spot was certainly a treat. Considering some high-noon sun shadow challenges, we still managed to find some pockets that provided for spectacular lighting. Also being huge dog people, having Charlie and Brody were also a joy to have in the photos. Lots of hills to climb and creeks to navigate but both Liz and Mark were up for anything. And as you can see, it was certainly worth all the effort.

Congratulations Liz & Mark! Can’t thank you enough for having us back to document your family once again! See you on your big day!
