Laura & Josh’s special day all took place in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. They got ready at Tremont Hotel just a block from the Magnificent Mile where they did a first look in the courtyard at the iconic Fourth Presbyterian Church right on Michigan Avenue. After a short exchange of handwritten letters, we headed to Kinzie Street Bridge and North Ave Beach for our photo safari. We then headed back to Washington Square Park for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. While the day started off very windy, we are certainly thankful for such beautiful sunny weather that provided for great photos during the ceremony. The reception was just a short walk across the street to the Newberry Library, one of our favorite Chicago downtown venues.

Some cool & fun details… Laura & Josh took advantage of their venue and incorporated some library theme details. They had books as part of table centerpieces and library cards as escort cards next to index card drawers. They even had an antique typewriter. Guests were treated to appetizer stations based on Chicago neighborhoods (Greektown, Pilsen, Taylor Street). See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Congratulations Laura & Josh! We’re very honored that you chose us to record your important memories. And it makes it even more worth while doing it for such wonderful people. – LOP

Nicole & Matt had an early start to their wedding day due to a 1pm ceremony. But that only meant more time for photos! As we certainly needed the time to dodge the indecisive rain throughout the day. Both got ready at the gorgeous LondonHouse right next to the Chicago River in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. This hotel has one of the best views in Chicago, hands down. After some final touches and gift exchanges, we boarded a classic Chicago trolley and headed for the ceremony to Holy Name Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of Chicago and also one of the most breathtaking churches in the country.

The rain kept coming at us for each photo stop but we managed to get a few shots before Nicole’s dress would get drenched. Our photo safari took us to Wrigley Field, Sully’s House, the iconic Chicago Riverwalk, and of course our favorite stop of the day, the rooftop at LondonHouse. This rooftop gives a very different perspective of the Chicago skyline, one you don’t normally see on postcards. So it was certainly a treat to experience. The celebration continued at LondonHouse with the dancefloor in full energy all night! Thanks to our friends at David Rothstein Music. We snuck out for a few minutes to get some night time photos over the Michigan Ave bridge. It was still raining but the photos were certainly worth getting wet.

Some cool & fun details… We had a bit of a rough start. We were on the north side of the river while The Rock was shooting his new movie Rampage with rolling closures on Wacker drive. We couldn’t make it across the river for a while but we still made it on time. The photo stop at Sully’s House was certainly not the average stop but this spot was special to the bride & groom as they knew everyone there by first names with some staff members attending the reception. So it was certainly a fitting place to stop by. David Rothstein Music actually gave the couple a set of Sully’s House branded Bean Bag Toss. Aside from the view of the reception venue, Nicole’s dress is definitely the details highlight of the day. They were made for each other! See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Congratulations Nicole & Matt! The rain chased us around and out of every location all day but it was still bright with energy and celebration. Thank you for letting us tag along on your super fun downtown wedding day!

The Dawson Chicago Wedding | Erin & Ryan

Erin & Ryan opted for a short and sweet ceremony at the Marriage and Civil Union Court in downtown Chicago. A few steps outside the courthouse provides for some fabulous city backdrops which we certainly took advantage of. The following day, close friends and family gathered at The Dawson Chicago to celebrate with the newlyweds. This venue provides for an excellent urban atmosphere and very close to downtown Chicago.

Erin & Ryan are both huge Cubs fans. So not only do they get to celebrate their marriage but there’s also icing on the cake as the Chicago Cubs try to win a world series at the same time. As you can see, there were plenty of Chicago Cubs blue colors for photos. And we’re pretty sure Erin & Ryan will be their good luck charms.

Congratulations Erin & Ryan! Thank you for having LOP at your spacial day!

Sarah & Anthony certainly had a huge day with lots of big plans throughout!

Preparations began at Hilton Chicago with a spectacular view of the lakefront and Grant Park. The first look took place on Hilton’s rooftop pool deck to start the day. Running late is not unusual as you know with weddings so we had to cut some photo stops but we still made the top locations on their list. First stop was a short walk to Grant Park for some natural backgrounds. Anthony is a huge Chicago Bears fan so they found a unique wedding photo spot at the Winter Garden next to Soldier Field, very fitting for Anthony but was certainly painful for Greenbay Packer fans in the family. We then hopped back on the trolley for Adler Planetarium for the signature Chicago skyline photo.

The ceremony and reception took place at Northerly Island, a very special place to Sarah & Anthony where they spend most of their free time. We also took some amazing engagement photos at their ceremony spot which you can see here.

Some fun details…Absolutely nothing was spared for Sarah & Anthony’s arrival. The entire wedding party went beyond the traditional trolley and hopped on a yacht from Burnham Harbor to Notherly Island. Sarah was then taken on a horse carriage from Northerly Island’s dock to their ceremony spot overlooking the Chicago skyline with such a unique vantage point. In another unique fashion, Sarah & Anthony chose to have ring tattoos, doing a fist bump in place of a ring exchange. Snoopy, a big part of Sarah & Anthony’s family took part in the ceremony. Perhaps one of the most unforgettable part of the ceremony would be Steely Dan‘s timing on their sound check which took place just yards away. While their sound check was overpowering at times, their song selections during sound check certainly timed well within the ceremony timeline. Fun & unforgettable! Their cake was a Stanley Cup replica laced with important names and meaningful words. There’s just too much to write about so just go check out their gallery on our Facebook Page.

Congrats Sarah & Anthony! Thank you for having us around your adventure of a day!

South Branch Chicago River Wedding | Jennifer & Robert

You see that old bench? That’s no ordinary bench. That’s the bench Jennifer & Robert first laid eyes on each other many years ago back when she was a freshman and he was a senior at Lane Tech High School. And on the morning of their wedding day, they decided to meet at the exact spot where it all began. And we can’t really write anything further to top that!

After a few photos around Lane Tech campus, which is very photogenic by the way, we headed out to Nicholas J. Melas Centennial Fountain in downtown Chicago’s Riverwalk where Robert proposed to Jennifer. Not only are their photo location choices unique, but they truly have meaning behind their story. The ceremony and reception took place at South Branch which flanks the Chicago River in the loop area and set the stage for spectacular skyline views both during the outdoor ceremony and reception.

Some fun details…Jennifer & Robert displayed their prom photo next to a current photo, so much fun for the guests to see. They also included other prom accessories with the display. This was important as Robert recreated prom night for Jennifer. While we took photos on Monroe bridge, Jennifer unexpectedly threw her bouquet over the river to boaters cheering them on. Thankfully, we got a shot as she threw. The sad news is no one caught it. Still, great unscripted memories to look back to. You can see more of their highlights & details on our Facebook Page.

Congratulations Jennifer & Robert! We’re thankful you chose us to document such a special day and witnessing your wonderful story. Thank you for having LOP!

April showers did not apply this day. It was more of a beautiful late May day, perfect weather for Jessica & Joel’s big day! While the guys got ready at Joel’s place in River North, the girls got ready at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago with a great view of the Magnificent Mile. Taking advantage of great weather, the bride along with her family and bridesmaids, took a stroll from the hotel to Newberry Library where the ceremony and reception took place. While the walk wasn’t so long, it was a highlight of the day as we were greeted with smiles throughout the walk wishing the bride good luck. It was certainly a great way to build up anticipation. Jessica & Joel had a sweet first look on the Newberry steps and exchanged gifts. We then took advantage of the weather, taking a few photos around Newberry Library.

Some cool details…Since Jessica & Joel are avid traveler’s, the Newberry seemed to be a great fit for their wedding. Joel’s gifted custom shot glasses were put to good use to start the day. While you traditionally think of the “first look” as a bride & groom event, there was also a nice first look moment with her three brothers and father. They featured a book themed table naming convention. You can see more highlights on our FB Page.

Congratulations Jessica & Joel! Thank you for trusting LOP to capture your special day!

We are honored and thrilled to witness wedding #2 for Stephanie’s family, as we get to see and enjoy familiar faces. They’re friend’s and family are so much fun to be around so there were plenty of opportunities to snap memorable moments. The ceremony and reception took place at Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North. The day also began there with an emotional first look on Franklin bridge on the Chicago River. It was a warm and humid day but we got to enjoy an open trolley ride for photos with stops at North Avenue Beach and Lincoln Park.

Some fun details…Stephanie & Eric incorporated the fall season from the dress/socks colors to the small details throughout the day. The ceremony isle was decorated with white/orange pumpkins and lanterns which also made an appearance as centerpieces. The flower girl dropped fall leaves instead of flower petals to complement the isle. Stephanie & Eric stored/exchanged some letters to be opened on their anniversary, as part of the ceremony. The officiant was a relative, also a previous groom of ours which made their ceremony special and a treat for us to photograph. See more of their highlights & details on ourFacebook Page.

Congratulations Stephanie & Eric! Your reception was one of the most fun we’ve seen and so much fun to photograph. Thank you so much for having us back. We fell in love with your family at Samantha’s wedding and we hope this won’t be the last time time we see everyone.

This wedding day was full of fun, mainly because of Kim & Dan’s fun personalities. They easily rubbed off on the entire bridal party, which filled the entire day with lots of laughs. Everyone got ready at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago with a spectacular view of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. A lovely ceremony took place at St Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. We headed to Lincoln Park for a few photos and continued the celebration at the famous Newberry Library, also in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

Some cool details… Kim & Dan are probably the perfect couple for Newberry. Just take a look a their engagement session here. They’ve complemented their venue well from the very beginning. Their engagement session featured some books as well as fun wedding party photos in front of the library. The table setting was complete with books and library index cards/drawer. The groom, brother, and FOG attempted to recreate an old photo. Although it wasn’t perfect, the photo will certainly become another classic. One of her close friends/bridesmaid sang beautifully at the ceremony. Finally, something super unique that we’ve never seen before… the groom’s ring is made of wood. You can see more highlights on our FB Page.

Congratulations Kim & Dan! The two of you are so addicting to shoot, from the engagement session to the end of the wedding day! Thank you for having LOP!!!

Millennium Park Rooftop Terrace Wedding Engagement | Manpreet & Sandy

While this was “only” an engagement party, we certainly had to show off the photos simply because Manpreet and Sandy did an amazing job planning & designing their event.

Manpreet & Sandy plan to marry in the west coast during the summer. They do have many ties in Chicago so it was only fitting to have their engagement party in the heart of downtown Chicago, at the Millennium Park Rooftop Terrace with spectacular views of the Chicago skyline. Many friends and family flew into town for a reunion, coming from both the west and east coasts.

Some fun details…The escort table was uber personalized, using an actual framed photo of every guest displayed on top of rose petals! The outdoor courtyard had some cozy and cool seating areas for the guests to enjoy. There was a distance sign of every major location their guests would come from to greet them. There was a “step and repeat” backdrop for the guests to take red carpet snapshots. There was even a designated skyline selfie spot. The backdrop was made up entirely of flowers, never seen anything like it! Their engagement photos rotated in display against one of the outdoor walls which beautifully blended into the skyline. See all of it on our Facebook album here.

Congratulations Manpreet & Sandy! Thanks for having us take part on your wedding events!

Adler Planetarium Wedding | Meghan & Joe

A big part of Meghan and Joe’s wedding day was travel time but well worth it as they both had the opportunity to incorporate all of their special places. Not to mention more time on a party bus is always welcomed by any wedding party! Meghan started her day at their new place while Joe started his day at his parents’ home in Morton grove, a short walk to their church, St Martha Catholic Church. After the ceremony (and an important stop at CVS), we headed to some photo spots along the Chicago river and a must have picture at the Board of Trade for Joe. The rest of the photos and reception took place at the best view of the Chicago skyline, the Adler Planetarium. This is truly a dream wedding venue for most. We took advantage of some sunset moments and finished it off with some night skyline pictures.

Some cool details… Meghan and Joe’s wedding were full of east coast guests so you can imagine the plentiful sports talk/tensions. But they did cater to a NY style reception timeline of which every important portion is broken up by dancing to make them feel at home. A collection of rocks were used for guests’ well wishes, always a cool alternative to the guest book. They displayed photo frames of entire wedding party highlighting each member. Their first dance was perfectly timed with the sunset. Very fitting for the venue!

Congratulations to Meghan and Joe! The two of you are so much fun to be around which shows throughout the photos. Thank you for having LOP!!!
