Snowstorm Proposal | Zach & Emily

OK so the headline is misleading. It’s really more of a thunderstorm. I drove 2 hours through Friday rush hour to capture a surprise proposal that Zach had been planning for a long time. It was supposed to take place during sunset at his parents’ lovely backyard where there would be a path of candles to a beautiful wooded area. But mother nature had other ideas that day. We had thunder filled freezing rain. I couldn’t leave them without one amazing photo to remember the day. All we had was darkness and rain. And so with a little bit of creativity and getting drenched, we leave them with a “snowstorm” proposal.

Thank you Zach for inviting me to this special moment. While it didn’t turn out as planned, all that matters is Emily heart melted and she said yes! =)

Katie & Andrew picked the perfect month for this perfect venue to have their special day. While the weather wasn’t so perfect, the ceremony and reception certainly made us all forget about the gloomy rain outside.

Katie’s day began full of emotions with her close friends and family at Deer Path Inn in downtown Lake Forest. There were plenty of tears as memorable gifts and lasting words were exchanged as Katie prepared for the ceremony. Andrew finished up at getting ready at the Armour House.

The forecast for the day wasn’t very promising. But as Katie zipped up her dress, there was a glimmer of hope as the sun tried to peek through. But as we headed to the Armour House for the ceremony, it started to pour. I must admit I was disappointed myself as this is one of those magical venues for outdoor photos. But luckily it’s also just as magical inside as it is outside. When the ceremony started and the wedding party began walking down the aisle, the rain was quickly forgotten. Tears from getting ready continued on through as they exchanged rings. And as the ceremony ended, so did the rain. And with all this rain, we were given a reward… a rainbow which lasted just long enough to get our best photo of 2017! What a way to finish off our 2017 wedding season with this exclamation point of a photo! The guests still had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors during cocktail hour, perfect timing.

Some cool & fun details… Katie & Andrew had a custom personalized painting of the Armour, first time we’ve seen this. Guests enjoyed many treats! There were his and her signature drinks, old fashioned for the groom and champagne peach schnapps for the bride. A high-end coffee bar serving up Kahlua, Bailey’s, Amaretto and more. Gourmet ice cream buffet, and lots more! See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Congratulations Katie & Andrew! Thank you so much for having us photograph your special day. While our photo shoots were all very wet (starting from the flooded engagement session and now a rainy wedding day), we can honestly say they’re one of our most favorite photos. Thank you for placing your trust in us. – LOP

Laura said yes! As difficult of a task this is to execute, we love these types of shoots. The secretly photographed proposal. As you can see, the photos are close range and yes we are pretty much that close to them and yet Laura doesn’t notice. We have to credit Mike for keeping her focussed on her new ring, I’m sure that helped quite a bit! As you scroll through the photos, you’ll notice we followed them around for a bit for some true candid moments as they soak in what just happened. This is exactly what we love, catching candid photos.

So thanks Mike for giving us this chance. Congratulations to you and Laura and we’re excited to finish off your story!

Laura & Josh’s special day all took place in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. They got ready at Tremont Hotel just a block from the Magnificent Mile where they did a first look in the courtyard at the iconic Fourth Presbyterian Church right on Michigan Avenue. After a short exchange of handwritten letters, we headed to Kinzie Street Bridge and North Ave Beach for our photo safari. We then headed back to Washington Square Park for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. While the day started off very windy, we are certainly thankful for such beautiful sunny weather that provided for great photos during the ceremony. The reception was just a short walk across the street to the Newberry Library, one of our favorite Chicago downtown venues.

Some cool & fun details… Laura & Josh took advantage of their venue and incorporated some library theme details. They had books as part of table centerpieces and library cards as escort cards next to index card drawers. They even had an antique typewriter. Guests were treated to appetizer stations based on Chicago neighborhoods (Greektown, Pilsen, Taylor Street). See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Congratulations Laura & Josh! We’re very honored that you chose us to record your important memories. And it makes it even more worth while doing it for such wonderful people. – LOP

Kate & Robert started the day at the gorgeous Hyatt Cleveland at the Arcade. Kate was super excited to have this hotel be part of their day. Being one of her favorite places and special to her, it was only fitting to do their first look here as well. And it was easily the most photogenic location of the day. We just can’t get enough of this place. Too bad we couldn’t come back for more photos. After the first look, we headed to St John Cantius Church for the ceremony. This church was beautiful. Reminds us of the churches back home in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. We then headed to Wade Lagoon next to theCleveland Museum of Art for wedding party photos. With a short timeline and a crowded spot for photos, we were forced to concentrate more on Kate & Robert but we did manage to get some fun bridesmaids and groomsmen photos. We finished off the day with the reception at the Ariel Pearl Center. Kate was really proud to have found this venue and she should be. It’s one of a kind. We’ve shot hundreds of weddings and this venue is truly unique.

Some cool & fun details… All her venues were a hit! Great job Kate & Robert! The Hyatt Arcade is timelessly gorgeous and we wish it’s here in Chicago. Ariel Pearl Center was an excellent find. As a historic old bank building, it gave the guests a feeling of being in an old museum with marble columns, arched windows, crystal chandeliers, and even retained its vaults for everyone to experience. Guests waved streamers as the newlyweds exited the church. A very photogenic option if you’d like an alternative to bubbles. Guests were treated to a collection of different cakes and macaroons for desert which I’m sure they didn’t mind. Their photo-booth was inside the bank’s vault, very cool! We had a break during the reception for some sparklers at sunset. See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Wedding #6! While Life On Prints was established in 2004, it was 2006 when we really started to shoot more and more weddings. We basically began our career with this family so they are near and dear to our hearts. We fell in love with their warmth from the very beginning. And while it may be the last from this family, we certainly hope it’s not the last time we see everyone. Thank you so much Kate & Robert for letting us be part of your wedding, it meant a lot to us. A 6 hour drive through corn fields certainly was not enough for us to miss this special day. Thank you Maggers for giving us a chance 11 years ago, allowing us to grow with your family. Congratulations Kate & Robert and we thank you from our hearts! – Michelle & Tony

The Chicago area has been plagued with heavy rain during the entire months of June and July causing widespread flooding. But Nora & Nick was blessed with a perfect summer day. Their wedding took place at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling. Even though the entire golf course was closed due to flooding, their ceremony site was one of the few dry spots on the course. The reception was at Chevy Chase’s new modern Devonshire Room with the best view of the golf course.

Some cool details… Nora’s son joined the first look which made that moment extra special. Her son was also the ring bearer sporting a “Ring Security” lunch box, super cool! A special guest, a bee, got comfortable inside Nora’s veil during the ceremony made for some funny photo moments. Nick had personalized collar stays with an embossed first date and wedding date. They also personalized moscow mule mugs which made for some nice contrast on the table. See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

We were so excited to hear from Nora & Nick, as they are familiar faces. We met Nora 11 years ago at her sister’s wedding Congratulations Nora & Nick! It’s always a treat to see previous couples and families. We’re very honored to be asked to return and be part of something special.

Forest Park Beach Lake Forest Engagement Photos | Katie & Andrew

Katie has been planning this engagement shoot for quite a while and had her sights set on Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe. With Chicago’s very unpredictable weather, we experienced record rain the past couple of weeks, flooding most of the region. The water levels were so bad that Chicago Botanic Garden had to close to the public with their parking lot under water and some parts of the garden. We were bummed but it all happened for a reason. Katie found a back-up location, Forest Park Beach in Lake Forest which should have been the first choice! We were super excited to find this hidden gem as it provided for some amazing backdrops especially during sunset. It’s definitely not the typical Chicago beach.

I ruined a pair of shoes during this shoot but the photos certainly made it all worth while. Congrats and we’re very excited to be part of your big day at our favorite venue! See you soon!

Nicole & Matt had an early start to their wedding day due to a 1pm ceremony. But that only meant more time for photos! As we certainly needed the time to dodge the indecisive rain throughout the day. Both got ready at the gorgeous LondonHouse right next to the Chicago River in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. This hotel has one of the best views in Chicago, hands down. After some final touches and gift exchanges, we boarded a classic Chicago trolley and headed for the ceremony to Holy Name Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of Chicago and also one of the most breathtaking churches in the country.

The rain kept coming at us for each photo stop but we managed to get a few shots before Nicole’s dress would get drenched. Our photo safari took us to Wrigley Field, Sully’s House, the iconic Chicago Riverwalk, and of course our favorite stop of the day, the rooftop at LondonHouse. This rooftop gives a very different perspective of the Chicago skyline, one you don’t normally see on postcards. So it was certainly a treat to experience. The celebration continued at LondonHouse with the dancefloor in full energy all night! Thanks to our friends at David Rothstein Music. We snuck out for a few minutes to get some night time photos over the Michigan Ave bridge. It was still raining but the photos were certainly worth getting wet.

Some cool & fun details… We had a bit of a rough start. We were on the north side of the river while The Rock was shooting his new movie Rampage with rolling closures on Wacker drive. We couldn’t make it across the river for a while but we still made it on time. The photo stop at Sully’s House was certainly not the average stop but this spot was special to the bride & groom as they knew everyone there by first names with some staff members attending the reception. So it was certainly a fitting place to stop by. David Rothstein Music actually gave the couple a set of Sully’s House branded Bean Bag Toss. Aside from the view of the reception venue, Nicole’s dress is definitely the details highlight of the day. They were made for each other! See more details on our See more highlights on our FB Page!

Congratulations Nicole & Matt! The rain chased us around and out of every location all day but it was still bright with energy and celebration. Thank you for letting us tag along on your super fun downtown wedding day!

We’ve been with Ashley & Jimmy from the very beginning when Jimmy proposed to Ashley. So this wedding was especially fun for us to experience. Their day began at aLoft in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The day didn’t start off too promising as a thunderstorm darkened downtown as we arrived at the hotel. But in an instant as Ashley got her dress on, the sun started to shine! After a quick first look with the father of the bride, Ashley & Jimmy met at LaSalle bridge for their first look.

Ashley & Jimmy wanted something low key and truly unique. Both boxes checked by having the ceremony and reception at the Untitled Supper Club also in River North. This venue gives you an old Chicago feel with a secret entrance, library, velvet booths, and a wall with over 500 whiskey collection.

Congratulations Ashley & Jimmy! It’s been a privilege to capture your story from the beginning, thank you for having us!

Jessica & Andrej wanted something unique on their special day. Having a Charles Gates Dawes House wedding ceremony certainly made that dream come true. Just a few steps into this Evanston property and you’re magically taken away from the inner city atmosphere and taken somewhat back in time. This was all complemented with a classic car ride to the reception at Biagio Events in Chicago. But first, we took a quick photo stop at one of the North Shore’s hidden gems, Shakespeare Garden inside Northwestern University campus. This Evanston garden was also a perfect fit for their wedding theme. While it’s a small area for photographs, it still provides for some magical images.

Congratulations Jessica & Anrej! Thank you for allowing LOP to capture this unique wedding experience!
